Orange County SC Falls 2–0 to Las Vegas Lights FC in Home Match

Orange County SC’s playoff push suffered a setback Saturday night as the Black & Orange fell 2–0 to Las Vegas Lights FC at Championship Soccer Stadium.

Playing in front of nearly 4,000 fans during California Classic Night, Orange County came out aggressively and looked to establish pressure early. Newcomer Sydney Wathuta nearly gave the home side the breakthrough in the 11th minute, getting behind the Las Vegas defense before sending his right-footed attempt just wide.

Las Vegas responded only moments later.

In the 13th minute, Jonathan Rodriguez received a pass from Giorgio Probo and fired a long-range effort that slipped past Orange County goalkeeper Alex Rando to put the Lights ahead 1–0.

Orange County continued searching for an equalizer, but Las Vegas’ defense limited the home side’s opportunities. The Lights entered halftime with the advantage while controlling 63 percent of possession.

The second half saw Orange County push forward in search of a response. The Black & Orange finished the night with 10 shots, including three on target, and earned seven corner kicks.

Despite the increased pressure, Orange County could not find the back of the net.

Las Vegas eventually sealed the result in stoppage time. Oalex Anderson scored in the 90th minute plus five, assisted by Patrick Leal, giving the Lights a 2–0 victory.

Orange County finished the match with 48 percent possession, 10 shots and three shots on goal. Rando made three saves for OCSC.

The defeat came after Orange County had earned consecutive draws against Oakland Roots and Sacramento Republic, making Saturday’s result an important setback during the club’s late-season playoff push.

Final: Orange County SC 0–2 Las Vegas Lights FC
