Houston Dynamo Hold Off LA Galaxy in 1-0 Victory
HOUSTON, Texas — Aug. 15, 2026

The Houston Dynamo delivered a strong defensive performance Saturday night, defeating the LA Galaxy 1-0 at a sold-out Shell Energy Stadium.
The decisive moment came in the 21st minute when Houston was awarded a penalty after Lawrence Ennali was brought down inside the box. Guilherme stepped up and calmly converted from the spot, sending the Dynamo into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
Houston’s defense continued to control the match in the second half. Goalkeeper Jonathan Bond recorded another clean sheet, extending his scoreless streak to 372 minutes. The shutout was Houston’s fourth consecutive clean sheet victory, a club record.
The Galaxy’s task became even more difficult in the 58th minute when Emiro Garcés was shown a straight red card, leaving Los Angeles with 10 players for the remainder of the match. Despite the disadvantage, the Galaxy continued to battle for an equalizer.
One of the night’s biggest storylines for Los Angeles was the debut of Hirving “Chucky” Lozano. The new Galaxy forward entered in the 65th minute, making his first appearance for the club after joining from San Diego FC.
The Galaxy were unable to find the equalizer, and Houston held on for the 1-0 victory. The result extended the Dynamo’s unbeaten run to seven matches and continued a stretch in which Houston had gone 9-2-2 over its previous 13 matches.
For the Galaxy, the loss extended their winless run to five matches. Los Angeles returned home next to face the San Jose Earthquakes on August 19.
